Hi! I’m Ally. Several years ago, as a mom of two young kids, a wife, and working full-time, life was hectic. I just hadn’t been able to do most of the activities I previously enjoyed. I realized that I had let go of all of my creative outlets. I didn’t realize how much I missed creating. I had no idea the next steps I took would lead me to this site, Forging My Way.
When my daughter was in treatment for leukemia, I needed a distraction from all things cancer-related. I rediscovered my passion for creating. I got a cutting machine (a Cricut) and started learning everything about how to use it. That served as a catalyst. I began learning to make my own SVG cut files and all of the various types of projects they can be used for. Then I discovered the lasers! I got a Glowforge and it truly changed my life.
I began taking the skills and knowledge I had gained, adapting it and applying it to lasers. What was most exciting to me were the endless possibility of things that can be made with a laser.
In the time since I got a Glowforge, I’ve created hundreds of designs, and I’m continuing to expand my knowledge every day.
