Are you considering buying a Glowforge? Looking for a Glowforge discount? Not sure which model is best for you? Looking for a discount?
There are three models of Glowforges to choose from: Basic, Plus and Pro.
What are the main differences between the three models?
Basic | Plus | Pro | |
Cutting space | 19.5” by 11” | 19.5” by 11” | 19.5” by infinity (using pass-through) |
Power | 40 watt | 40 watt | 45 watt |
Speed | – | A little faster than Basic | A little faster than Plus |
Usage | – | – | Longer running time before it needs to cool down |
You can read all of the specs, of course, on the Glowforge site, so I won’t rehash everything there. All three perform the same basic tasks – cutting, engraving, and scoring.
Which one is right for you?
Your choice should be based on your needs and your budget.
- If you will be using the machine constantly, for a business, and need to make large projects, you may prefer the Pro.
- On the other hand, if you will only be using the machine for a couple of hours per day, for smaller quantities, and have a smaller budget, then the Basic may meet your needs.
If you would like to test out a Glowforge before purchasing one, but don’t know anyone else who has one, some areas you may be able to find a maker space with access to a Glowforge. Some Joann stores have them, some local stores have them and I’ve even heard of some public libraries having them.
There are other lasers out there. Make sure you do your due diligence so you know the one you are purchasing is right for you.
